John Godbey and Davis Clark celebrate their state doubles championship.

Two Lakehill Preparatory School students, Davis Clark and John Godbey, have won the TAPPS 2A State Boys Doubles Tennis Championship and their Lakehill varsity team was named State Runners-Up. Clark, a junior, lives in Lake Highlands, and Godbey, a graduating senior, is a Lakewood resident.

“Since John is a senior, we put a lot of pressure on ourselves to get it done this year,” Clark told me. “You never know how it’s going to work out until you’re there, but we played our best match of the year when it mattered most.” Clark is the son of Keith and Ashley Clark, whose Colfax home was on the Lake Highlands Women’s League Home Tour last Christmas.

Both boys work as hard in the classroom as they do on the courts, and both were named Academic All State for their scholastic achievement. Congratulations, guys!
