At a Dette event in 2003: Meagan McDaniel, Ashley Newbold, Tara Worthen, Kelle Holt, Katherine Willard, Taylor Williams, Sarah Stutsman Gillis, Sarah Blettner, Emily Bowen, Hannah Owen, Paige Moudy and Lindsay Toler

The Highlandettes will host their dance clinic, Dancing with the Dettes, Saturday, March 5 from 9 am to 3 pm at Lake Highlands High School. Students in grades K-8 are invited to join the award-winning, high-kicking dance and drill team for a day to learn new skills, meet new friends and have some fun. Best of all, Lil Dettes get to perform a number at the annual Highlandette Revue on April 15 or 16 in the LHHS auditorium.

The cost of early registration is $50, which benefits the Highlandette organization and provides costumes, props and travel funds as the team represents LH at performances and competitions. Click here to download the registration form or email Dette Director Lauren Turnbull for more info.

And for a little nostalgia, I found this photo in my collection of a similar Highlandette event from 2003. In the back row, left to right, Lt. Meagan McDaniel (who cheered at the 2010 Super Bowl as a New Orleans Saints Cheerleader), Ashley Newbold, Lt. Tara Worthen (now a math teacher at Lake Highlands Freshman Center), Capt. Kelle Holt, Lt. Katherine Willard and Lt. Taylor Williams. In the front, Lt. Sarah Stutsman Gillis (who later became captain), Sarah Blettner (current captain of the squad), Emily Bowen (current Dette Social Committee member), Hannah Owen (LHHS junior adopted from Moldova), Paige Moudy (current Wildcat Wrangler) and Lindsay Toler (currently serving as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Moldova). Long live the Highlandettes!
