The Lake Highlands High School volleyball team is undefeated in district play with three games left.
In Head Coach Emily Hubacek’s first year leading the team, the Lady Wildcats have gone 9-0 in district play and 24-7 overall. The team has three games left on its schedule before the beginning of the playoffs, including a matchup against a 9-1 J.J. Pearce’s team that appears to be Lake Highlands’ only competition for the district championship.
The Lady Wildcats have shut out their opponents in two-thirds of their district matchups thus far. One difficult game, however, came against Pearce on Sept. 23, when Lake Highlands was taken to five sets by the current second-place squad. Lake Highlands eventually won the game behind Elle Holley’s 25 kills as the team won its first game on JJ Pearce’s campus since 2021.
A duo of Lake Highlands athletes currently sits among Dallas-area statistical leaders as the regular season draws to a close. Elle Holley currently sits at No. 6 on the area aces leaderboard (64) and No. 24 in kills (321). Carrigan Anderly has amassed the 6th most assists (671) and 8th most aces (60).
Lake Highlands will next see action against J.J. Pearce on Oct. 17 at home. The game, which starts at 6:30 p.m, will likely have massive implications on the UIL District 7-6a championship race.
