The Dallas Cowboys are still tweaking their roster in preparation for the start of the regular season, but the Junior Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders of Lake Highlands Dance Academy danced like it was the Super Bowl at Saturday night’s pre-season game against the Rams at AT&T Stadium. In addition to performing their routine at halftime before a sea of fans decked out in blue and silver, the girls took photos with the legendary Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders and watched them perform “Thunderstruck” from the sidelines.

Former Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader Vandy Haby, owner of LHDA, was selected last year to develop a Junior DCC team along with a select few dance and cheer studios in the Metroplex. Her three teams — pink, blue and silver — feature more than 130 dancers from age 5 to 12.

The Junior DCC teams will be participating in Rally Days at future Dallas Cowboys games, the Dallas Christmas Parade downtown, the Cowboys Christmas Spectacular at the Star in Frisco, Light Up the Highlands at the Lake Highlands Town Center, Hoops in the Highlands and more. The pre-season game brought the girls’ largest audience to date, but they’re hoping to appear on a future episode of the runaway Netflix hit, “America’s Sweethearts: Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders.”

Lake Highlands Dance Academy is at 6300 Skillman Street Suite 150 near Mariano’s Hacienda.
