The Dallas Police Department Northeast Division will host its annual Senior Wellness and Safety event this Thursday at the Elks Lodge.

From 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on July 18 at Dallas Elks Lodge #71, neighbors 50-years-old and above can connect with local resources and hear from guest speakers on age-related topics.

For the first hour of the event, attendees will be able to connect with city resources, healthcare providers and more while browsing tables and vendors. According to the Northeast Division Community Policing Unit, information on Medicaid and Medicare will be available, and representatives from local hospitals, nursing homes and assisted living facilities will be present to provide information. 

In addition, Dallas County Health and Human Services will be present to offer COVID-19 vaccines, with those getting vaccinated receiving a $25 Wal-Mart gift card. According to the NPO unit, representatives from local audiology center Total Hearing will also be at the event.

Giveaways include personal care bags, box fans, fruit and vegetables, and a gift card raffle. 

The last hour of the event will feature guest speaker Michael Cohen, an attorney specializing in elder law. His areas of expertise include estate planning and senior benefits issues.

Dallas Elks Lodge #71 is located at 8550 Lullwater Drive.
