According to Dallas Fire-Rescue, units were dispatched to Restland Funeral Home at 2:10 p.m. following reports that a burial vault had fallen on a worker. When they arrived, the man was found pinned from the waist down.

DFR officials say that while the Urban Search and Rescue Team was dispatched, the units who initially responded to the scene were able to free the man through a combination of spreaders and air bags. Spreaders, sometimes referred to as the ‘jaws of life’, are often used to free individuals from car wrecks.

The man was transported to a local hospital where he was treated for serious lower body injuries, officials stated.
