Volunteers at Feed Lake Highlands say they are in desperate need of food to distribute to families in our neighborhood. Fewer items are coming in from the food bank, they say, and the need for help increases daily.
Neighbors may drop off items each Tuesday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at The New Room, 10061 Whitehurst Drive near Skillman, or Lake Highlands United Methodist Church, 9015 Plano Road. Suggested donations include canned beans, canned tuna or chicken, peanut butter, cereal, canned pasta sauce (no glass jars), mac and cheese, rice and canned pasta (such as ravioli) in sauce.
Feed Lake Highlands was founded by LHUMC and feeds more than 450 individuals during their food distribution each Wednesday. They provide more than 5,000 meals each week to children and families in the neighborhood. You may donate directly to FLH here. You may sign up to volunteer here.
