Open through April 29, the early voting period gives neighbors a chance to skip long election day lines at approved early voting centers. In Lake Highlands, the sole registered early voting center is the Audelia Road Branch Library.

Hours of operation for the Audelia Road Library voting center are as follows:

April 22-25: 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

April 26: 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

April 27: Noon to 6 p.m.

April 28-29: 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

To vote, neighbors must present identification. Acceptable forms of ID include: Texas driver’s license, Texas election identification certificate, Texas personal ID card, Texas handgun license, U.S. military photo ID, U.S. citizenship certificate with photo or U.S. passport.

In District 10,  incumbent Council Member Kathy Stewart is running against Sirrano Keith Baldeo and write-in candidate L.D. Pullen.

In RISD Place 5, which comprises most of Lake Highlands, except for the Forest Lane Corridor and parts of northern Audelia Road, incumbent Trustee Rachel McGowan is facing off against Cristina Angelina Neria. The two recently participated in a candidate forum (you can read our recap here). A second forum will take place this Thursday at the KC Club.

Election Day is May 3.Â
