As we previously reported, our area’s bald eagle residents hatched two new eaglets sometime in mid-March. The news came as a relief to many neighbors, as the pair has previously experienced difficulties with past clutches.

Old Lake Highlands resident Bryna Thomson and her neighbor have set up a livestream looking out onto the nest from a bedroom window. It can be accessed here. While it is only live during some daylight hours, a 24/7 stream is the goal going forward, according to the YouTube channel’s description.

City of Dallas Park and Recreation urban biologist Chris Morris recently told the Advocate neighbors should plan to see the eaglets hopping on branches sometime in early summer, with powered flight expected in August.

In that interview, Morris strongly discouraged neighbors from doing anything that could disturb the eagles, such as playing loud music, flashing lights at the nest and flying drones nearby.
