The League of Women Voters of Richardson is hosting a candidate forum for the two candidates running for the Richardson ISD Board of Trustees Single Member District 5 Seat, which represents most of Lake Highlands.
On April 5 at 1 p.m, the LWVR will host a candidate forum at the Richardson ISD Administration Building. Neighbors can ask questions at the forum or submit questions beforehand by emailing VoterService@lwvrichardson.org.
There are currently two candidates signed up to appear on the ballot in May. Rachel McGowan, a one-term incumbent, has served in the role since 2022. Her opponent is Cristina Angelina Neria, a mother of four who previously worked in education before landing at her current job as a clerk with the Dallas County Sheriff’s Department. Neria is running on a “back-to-basics” platform, saying that she would like to see less technology in schools.
Regina Harris of Single Member District 4, representing most of the Forest Lane corridor and North Lake Highlands, is running unopposed in the election.
Election Day is May 3.
