Lake Highlands High School has been recognized by the College Board for its Advanced Placement (AP) programs.
The AP School Honor Roll, instituted by the College Board in 2023, recognizes high schools for meeting achievement criteria based on recent graduating seniors’ college readiness.
Schools are evaluated in three measures: college culture, college credit and college optimization.Â
To meet the Honor Roll requirements for college culture, 40% of a graduating cohort must have taken at least one AP exam while in school, and 25% of a graduating cohort must have gotten at least a 3 or higher on an AP exam to meet the college credit requirement. The college optimization criterion requires that at least 2% of graduating students took five or more exams in high school, with at least one being taken in ninth or tenth grade to ensure proper balancing.
Lake Highlands High School has earned the Bronze designation for the 2023-24 school year, RISD recently announced. LHHS joins Richardson and J.J. Pearce High Schools, which earned Silver designations, on the Honor Roll.
