The State Fair of Texas is finally back, but if you aren’t planning on making it down to Fair Park, Lochland’s has once again brought Fair bites to the neighborhood.
Dubbed “Lochland’s State Fair Fare,” the menu typically appears in conjunction with the beginning of the State Fair in late September. Mixing house creations with classic Fair favorites, the six-item menu will for the duration of the Fair.
The menu remains unchanged from last year.
And yes, they do have a corndog. It’s a foot-long, comes with a side of mustard, and comes out to $6.50. They also have funnel cake, but served with a bit of a twist. Lochland’s funnel cake “fries” come topped with powdered sugar and the customer’s choice of raspberry, salted caramel or chocolate drizzle.
Being a Fair menu, there’s a fair amount of representation for foods served on-the-stick. Smoked sausage on a stick, which is exactly what it sounds like, comes with dijon mustard for $6.5. On the sweeter side, the breakfast dog is a breakfast sausage, dipped in pancake batter, and served with syrup for $6.
For a light bite, jalapeno hush puppies offer deep-fried fare for $6.
The headliners, however, are definitely the shepard’s pie balls. Coming in at $14 for 5, the balls are deep-fried flavor bombs made with Lochland’s house mix of minced beef and garlic mashed potatoes.
There is no State Fair drink menu.
The menu will be offered until Oct. 20.
