National Coffee Day is this Sunday, Sept. 29, and White Rock Coffee has announced a special offer to help neighbors get in on the action.

At all WRC locations this Sunday, neighbors will be able to get a free coffee, although there are stipulations. The free coffee is part of a buy-one, get-one promotion. To capitalize on the promotion, neighbors must bring a friend and show that both customers have downloaded the White Rock Coffee app. One free small coffee drink will be included with the purchase of one coffee.Â
The White Rock Coffee app is WRC’s mobile application which allows users to order ahead and collect rewards.
According to the National Day Archives, National Coffee Day has been celebrated since 2009, when the Southern Food and Beverage Museum in New Orleans declared Sept. 29 National Coffee Day to celebrate the start of the first New Orleans Coffee Festival.
A 2020 study by the National Coffee Association found that 7 in 10 Americans drink coffee at least once a week, and that the average coffee drinker in the U.S. drinks a little more than three cups a day.
