Oktoberfest Dallas returns to Flag Pole Hill on Oct. 5, and the musical lineup includes a well-known red dirt country artist and one very timely tribute band.
Put on by the Exchange Club of Lake Highlands, the annual festival’s lineup is headlined by Cory Morrow, an Austin-based red dirt artist who lists artists like Jerry Jeff Walker and Rodney Crowell among his mentors. Morrow’s 2001 album Songs We Wish We’d Written, a collaboration with Pat Green, peaked at #26 on the Billboard Top Country Album charts.
But perhaps the main draw will come from Morrow’s opener, the Taylor Swift tribute band Red. Fronted by doppelganger Lauren Corzine, the band’s website advertises a “faithful recreation of a live Taylor Swift concert ” The tribute band has already sold out a concert at the Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden for the following Thursday.
The Lab, an East Dallas-based classic rock cover band, will also perform.
“We anticipate that being incredibly popular, just based on the ticket sales for other events in the area that they’ve generated,” said Brad McCutcheon, the Exchange Club’s Oktoberfest chair. “So we’re really excited about that.
