The Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden will host its seventh annual Hispanic Heritage Celebration this weekend.
Taking place on Saturday and Sunday, the celebration will feature a fashion show, vendor markets, live music, cooking demonstrations and more. The event will kick off at 10 a.m. on Saturday with the customary Quinceanera Dress Fashion Show at Rosine Hall. A live mariachi performance will follow in the entry plaza beginning at 11:30 a.m, with a traditional folklorico dance by Los Estrellas de Tejas beginning shortly thereafter at the Rodriquez Gazebo.
“These celebrations honor the rich cultural traditions of our Hispanic community and promote unity and understanding within our broader society,” said Dallas Arboretum Board Vice Chair Regina Montoya in a press release. “We look forward to events filled with music, dance, food and education that showcase the diverse contributions of Hispanic Americans.”
Entry will be included with regular garden admission. Entrance to the Children’s Adventure Garden will be free-of-charge through the weekend.
There will be a market both days with close to 30 vendors in the entry plaza showcasing local art, jewelry and cuisine.
Several cooking demos will take place throughout the weekend at A Tasteful Place. Among them will be a demonstration by Meso Maya and El Fenix Chef Nico Sanchez on Saturday from 11 to 12 p.m.

The event coincides with the beginning of Hispanic Heritage Month on Sept. 15. The month begins on the fifteenth due to the date’s significance in many Hispanic American countries’ independence traditions.
