The Texas Women’s Foundation, a nonprofit organization headquartered in Lake Highlands, has announced the keynote speaker for its 39th Annual Luncheon.
Ann Curry, an Emmy award-winning journalist known for her work in wartime reporting, will speak at the luncheon. Taking place on November 1st, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Omni Dallas Hotel, the theme for the luncheon is “Catalysts for Change.”
She will be interviewed by Krys Boyd, a radio personality who hosts the KERA-produced national talk radio program Think.
Curry has reported from war zones in Syria, Afghanistan, Iraq, Somalia, Darfur, Congo, the Central African Republic, Serbia and Lebanon. The seven-time national news Emmy Award-winner is also well-known for her work in humanitarian and disaster zones such as Japan and Haiti.
“We are looking forward to hearing Ann Curry’s powerful and personal stories at our 39th Annual Luncheon,” said Texas Women’s Foundation Board Chair Carrie Freeman Parsons in a press release. “Her focus on giving voice to the voiceless, and especially women, throughout her career has inspired us for decades. We are excited to welcome her to Dallas and invite you to join us at the Omni Hotel on November 1st.”
Sponsorships and tables for the event are currently on sale. Effie Dennison, executive vice president for Texas Capital Bank, will serve as luncheon co-chair.
The Texas Women’s Foundation is a 501 (c) (3) organization which seeks to enact “meaningful social and economic change for women, girls and families in Texas.” The organization seeks to achieve this through research grants, advocacy and strategic/educational initiatives.
