Starting at 6 p.m, Stewart will brief neighbors on the City of Dallas’s proposed $4.97 billion budget for Fiscal Year 2024-25. Information will be available in both Spanish and English.

The proposed budget includes a property tax cut — hailed as the biggest decrease in modern City history — from 73.57 cents to 70.47 cents per $100 assessed valuation. The Police and Fire budget is expected to increase under the proposed budget, with all other departments facing cuts that could result in community pool hours reductions, the elimination of 531 positions and the closure of the Skillman Southwestern Branch Library.
