A neighborhood near Skillman St. and Abrams Road will be sprayed for West Nile Virus.
Each night from today to tomorrow, Aug. 2, an area near the 7000 block of Walling Lane bounded by Skillman St. on the north, Abrams Road on the west, Goforth Road on the east and Northwest Highway to the south will be sprayed between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.
The spray has no residual effect. If residents encounter a spray truck, they are encouraged to stay indoors or remain in their vehicle with the windows up.
Residents are encouraged to limit outdoor activity during early morning and evening hours to avoid mosquito bites. If necessary to be outdoors during these hours, wearing repellant and covering arms and legs is advised.Â
The city is also advising residents to eliminate standing water. At-risk standing water sources listed include swimming pools that are not kept clean, stagnant ponds, pet watering dishes, birdbaths, potted plants, old tires, empty containers, toys, clogged rain gutters and French drains.Â
To report standing water or mosquito issues, residents are asked to call 3-1-1.Â
