The City of Dallas is hosting an application workshop tonight for its Home Improvement and Preservation Program at Lake Highlands North Recreation Center.

From 6 to 7 p.m, HUD representatives will provide information for neighbors interested in applying for HIPP. The program provides grants and low-interest loans for low and middle-income homeowners. To be eligible, applicants must have a gross income equal or less than 80% of the Area Median Income.
HIPP provides homeowners who are residents of Dallas with three different aid opportunities. The Major System Repair Program provides low-interest loans for low and middle-income homeowners for systems rehabilitation. The loans can be used to help with systems maintenance like HVAC repairs, plumbing, electrical systems, roofing and cladding. MSR Program loans can also be used to make homes handicap accessible and remove asbestos and lead piping. The loans can range up to $24,000
The Emergency Home Rehabilitation Program offers grants up to $10,000 for homeowners needing emergency repairs. The Dallas Tomorrow Fund provides grants up to $20,000 for homeowners who are financially unable to bring their home up to code. To be eligible for the DTF, a homeowner must have received a notice of violation from Dallas Code Compliance and be referred by DCC to the DTF.
Applications will be open between 8 a.m. on August 19 and 5 p.m. on August 30th
