Jeremy Gilbert has been named athletic director for Highland Park ISD.

Lake Highlands neighbor Jeremy Gilbert has been named the new athletic director for Highland Park ISD. He succeeds Lonnie Jordan, former head coach for the Wildcats, who left Lake Highlands High School one year ago to join HPISD. Jordan announced in April he’ll become athletic director for Plano ISD, and Plano AD Jeff Smith, also a former LHHS football coach, will take the athletic director position in Prosper.

Gilbert began his career in 1998 as a teacher at Merriman Park Elementary, and he later served as principal for Wallace Elementary in Lake Highlands. He’s been principal at Hyer Elementary, Highland Park Middle School and HPHS.

“I am so honored and incredibly humbled to serve in this new role, which will support students and families from across our district,” Gilbert wrote in a posting on the HPISD website. “In fact, I am already partnering with Coach Allen, Coach Bailey, and all of our amazing coaches at HPHS and HPMS to help create the very best experiences for our students in the years ahead.”

Gilbert and his wife, Anne, live in Lake Highlands with their two children. Anne is a dyslexia teacher at Mohawk Elementary in Richardson ISD.

Based on the number of students in their district, HPISD will move down to 5A next year and no longer compete in District 7-6A with Lake Highlands.

Congratulations and best wishes, Jeremy.
