Funded through the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Summer Food Service program, or SUN Meals, RISD’s program is administered through the Texas Department of Agriculture.

“Richardson ISD children need good nutrition year-round so they can learn, grow and succeed in life,” RISD Executive Director of Child Nutrition Alissa Gustof said in a press release. “With nearly 2 million food insecure children living in Texas, these healthy meals are vital to nourishing young Texans during the summer vacation.”

Breakfast and lunch will both be provided at MPE beginning June 4, Monday through Friday. Breakfast will be served from 7:15 to 8:15 a.m., and lunch will be served from 10 a.m. to noon. Meals cannot be taken home and must be consumed on-site. The program will run until June 25., with all RISD summer meal locations to be closed on June 19.

Other locations offering summer meals include Big Springs Elementary, Bukhair Elementary, Dobie Pre-K School, MST Magnet, North Junior High and Richardson High School.
