Lake Highlands High School senior Jack Hollingsed won the District 7-6A golf championship last weekend, shooting a 68-71 over the two-day competition. He qualified for the regional tournament at Cedar Hill’s Tangle Ridge Golf Club April 15 and 16.
Hollingsed earned gold medals earlier this year at the Tangle Ridge Preview, North Mesquite Invitational, Flower Mound Tournament, Tyler Rose Invitational and AAT Winter Finale. The Wildcat golf team also finished first at several competitions.
Hollingsed has committed to play for Abilene Christian University next year.
“Signing Jack Hollingsed completes our highest-ranked freshmen class in the D1 era,” head coach Tom Shaw told the school’s newspaper. “Jack will complement the earlier signing of West Texas standout Colin Leonard from Angelo and gives us a one-two punch that should help our lineup immediately.
“Jack is an outstanding player and is one of the best players in Texas. He is also an excellent student and possesses strong leadership skills, which make him a natural fit at Abilene Christian, which values the complete student-athlete.”
Congratulations, Jack.
