Higgins is the retired coach who arrived on campus in 1967 to serve as athletic trainer and head baseball coach. Over the years, scores of students sat in his biology and sports medicine classrooms by day and spilled out onto the red dirt to cheer his team after school. Higgins earned 798 career wins, 16 district championships and a spot in the Texas High School Baseball Coaches Hall of Fame. He will be honored in April by the Lake Highlands High School Alumni Association and the Wildcat Club with their 2024 Distinguished Service Award.

The tourney kicks off at 11 a.m. March 7, with LHHS playing their first match at 1:30 p.m. against Lewisville and facing Duncanville at 6:30 later that night. Additional games follow over the course of the weekend, and competing teams include Pottsboro, Wylie East, Carrollton Creekview and Bryan Adams.

The Cat Shack concession stand will be serving up grilled grub, and the fan-friendly atmosphere will continue in the grandstands with music between innings. You may follow the team on Twitter here or find more information on the Wildcat Club website here. Go Cats!
