After defeating Arlington High in round one of the playoffs, the volleyball team upset McKinney Boyd Friday night in four sets to become area champions. Plano East defeated Highland Park and Flower Mound beat Pearce, so LH is the only team remaining from our district in the race to state. The Wildcats will play Flower Mound at 6 p.m. Monday at Carrollton Creekview High School. Tickets are available online here.

LHHS football will face South Grand Prairie at 7 p.m. Friday at Wildcat Stadium for the bi-district championship. Fans may purchase tickets online here. With matching district records of 7-1, Lake Highlands and Highland Park are technically district co-champions. LH defeated HP in head-to-head competition, but UIL doesn’t consider that the tiebreaker.

LH’s Holley family is likely to have a particularly crazy week. Elle is a sophomore outside hitter for the Wildcats, earning 11 kills in the remarkable upset against McKinney Boyd. Tripp is LH’s senior quarterback, with 1,680 yards and 19 touchdowns on the season. Go Cats.
