Feed Lake Highlands often struggles to provide sufficient food to the hundreds of families and individuals in need around our neighborhood, but they’re facing a special challenge this week. Their main food supplier is unable to meet requests for Wednesday’s distribution, and volunteers say Feed LH’s cupboards are bare.

Here’s where you come in.

Your family, your Scout troop, your Sunday school class, your exercise group and/or your HOA is invited to collect nonperishables, such as cereal, canned meat, peanut butter, dried beans, pasta and toilet paper. Items may be dropped off at The New Room Community Center, 10061 Whitehurst Drive, Suite 100, Tuesday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. or on the front porch of 8211 Old Moss Road at your convenience.

You may donate funds online here.

In addition to food distribution, Feed LH provides activities for children, a Book Mobile which travels to neighborhood apartment communities and other services. They have openings for volunteers and sponsors.
