LHHS Junior World Affairs Council is hosting an event where students can learn about global clean water access and water filtration.
Student volunteers will be assembling water filter kits that will be shipped around the world to communities that do not have access to clean water.
The event will take place on November 1.
The JWAC aims to give students in North Texas the knowledge and skills they need to positively impact their community, according to their website. Fundraising for the project will cover the cost of $62 filter kits, which will provide families of 10-12 with up to 10 years of clean water.
Julian Villamar-Robbins, this years president of the JWAC, had secured part of the funding for the project from a Global Gateway Grant he received from the World Affairs Council of Dallas/Fort Worth last spring. He was also named one of DFW’s “20 under 20” students for 2023.
