Johnson led the squad with 21 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. All 12 Americans scored in the first half, and seven earned double digits.

In the second game, Team USA overcame a 12-point deficit to defeat Slovenia 77-72. Johnson had 11 points and 5 rebounds, second only to teammate Tobe Awaka.

Earlier this month, Johnson announced he’ll leave Lake Highlands to attend Link Academy, a Branson, Missouri prep school known for its elite basketball program. He also signed a deal with LIFT Sports Management for NIL representation to potentially earn money from his name, image and likeness — something he could not have done Texas without losing high school eligibility.

Team USA will take on Lebanon Tuesday at 8 a.m. CT. All games are streamed on FIBA’s YouTube channel.
