Two rowing clubs based at White Rock Lake placed in USRowing’s Youth National Championships earlier in June.
White Rock Rowing and Dallas United Crew sent athletes to complete in the championships, held in Sarasota, Florida.
White Rock Rowing is the first crew in the Central Region — which includes Arkansas, Colorado, Kansas, Louisiana, Missouri, Nebraska, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Texas — to place multiple men’s 8 boats in the grand finals, according to a press release. The men’s U16 8+ finished sixth, and the men’s U17 8+ finished seventh.
In the B Finals, White Rock Rowing’s women’s U16 8+ finished first, and its women’s U17 8+ boat finished second. The women’s youth 4+ team placed fourth in the C Final, and the men’s youth 2V 8+ placed fourth in the D Final.
Dallas United Crew’s women’s U17 8+ finished eighth. Its men’s Youth 4- team finished sixth, and the women’s Youth 4- team came in eighth place.
The women’s U15 4x+ team from Dallas United Crew came in second in the A Final, and the women’s youth 2- team came in first in the B final.
Both clubs have a history of competing in the national championships, and in 2021, a team from White Rock Rowing won first place in the U17 women’s pair.
