Brighter Bites and Lake Highlands YMCA are giving out bags of produce to local families this summer at New Mount Zion Baptist.
Every Tuesday starting June 6, the two organizations will provide fresh fruit and vegetables for drive thru pick up. The other dates for pick up are June 13 and 20. Each Tuesday, hours will be from 2:30 – 3:30 p.m.
Brighter Bites is a nonprofit that delivers food to families in need and underserved communities. The program was created in 2012 by a mother, Lisa Helfman, who partnered with a nutrition expert and epidemiology professor, Dr. Shreela Sharma. Since then, Brighter Bites has served fresh produce to cities across the country.
New Mount Zion Baptist is located at 9550 Shepherd Road.
