Summer break is just beginning, and with that comes kick off events at local libraries and the launch of summer reading programs.

This Saturday, the Northeast Division of the Dallas Police Department is hosting Touch a Truck to kickoff the SMART Summer reading and learning program. The event will feature  games, crafts, books and city vehicles from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. at the Vickery Park Branch Library.

If you’re looking to pet and read to some dogs, there’s a therapy dog reading event at Audelia Road set for 10:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.

Also on Saturday, there will be Crafternoons at the Forest Green and Vickery Park libraries from 2 – 3 p.m. For the crowd above the age of 13, Forest Green will screen the film But I’m a Cheerleader from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. in the Karen Blumenthal Auditorium.
