Mallory Martin recently opened the Mended showroom at The Village in partnership with Lauren Garrity, who serves as director of creative and communications, to help economically empower survivors of modern-day slavery.

The brand’s vision is to “reduce the vulnerability of more and more survivors of modern-day slavery each year through the production and sales of high-quality and beautiful home goods products made by the survivors,” according to the Mended website.

The survivors are women Martin met during a visit to South Asia with International Justice Mission. Through Martin’s partnership with International Justice Mission, which was also her former employer, she’s able to identify survivors who have been rescued and are on a restoration journey.

Then, they’re trained in hand block printing hand goods that are exported from their country to the United States. Garrity and her team create the designs and transfer them to the survivors to print on textiles.

Mended’s products include tea towels, napkins, table cloths, bandanas and more.

The storefront is open 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. Monday through Friday at 5677 Village Glen Drive, Suite 12102. For more information, email info@mended.co.
