The 650 attendee event kicked off with the empowerment program for middle and high school girls, #BESTSELF, featured leadership forums, awards, dinner and a panel discussion hosted by former first daughter and Today co-host Jenna Hager Bush.

Five honorees were presented with the Maura Women Helping Women Award for individuals who have catalyzed change for women and girls. The following received the Maura Women Helping Women Award:

  • Froswá Booker-Drew, Ph.D., CEO of Soulstice Consultancy, LLC
  • Madeline Burillo-Hopkins, Ed.D., Vice Chancellor Workforce Instruction for the Houston Community College System and College President
  • Aimee Cunningham the President and CEO of The Boone Family Foundation
  • Mary Pat Higgins, President and CEO of the Dallas Holocaust and Human Rights Museum
  • Jill Louis, Managing Partner of Perkins Coie’s Dallas office

Two honorees received the Young Leader Award, which recognizes breakthrough leadership exhibited by a trailblazer under the age of 40. The following women received the award:

  • Ann Sheu, founder of Mpowered Families
  • Professor “Bee” Nance, COO of Generation Teach

Brenda Jackson, selection co-chair, and Wendy Bridges of Comerica Bank and award sponsor, presented this year’s awards.
