It’s a big week for Lake Highlands soccer fans as playoffs kick off this week. The boys team will face Grand Prairie at Wildcat Stadium Thursday night, and the girls will play Arlington Martin Friday in Grand Prairie’s Gopher Bowl.
The Lady Wildcats, led by Coach Micah Knorr, average 4.2 goals per game. They’re a young team, bolstered by the experience of seniors Kelly Cothern, Allie Delgado and Maddie Hastings.
Jesuit and Highland Park are traditionally tough contenders on the boys’ side, but LHHS topped them both to finish second in district behind Irving High. Coach Timothy Guinnee expects playing at home to give his squad a big advantage.
“Come out and support the boys as they take on Grand Prairie in the Bi-District round of the playoffs,” he said, encouraging a big crowd of students, parents and members of the community.
Kick off time for the boys is 7:15. The girls get started at 7. Go Cats.
