Dadrien Harrison was shot in the back Feb. 28 while walking along Skillman between Church Road and Walnut Hill. The violence erupted after an apparent disagreement between two groups of kids.

“He was with some friends,” Harrison’s mom, Ashley Kelly, told KDFW, “and they chased him, and he was shot.”

The 14-year-old shooter has been arrested.

Stephanie Bowling set up a Go Fund Me page to honor Harrison and help his family pay for expenses. He is survived by his mother and three younger siblings.

“On behalf of the Lake Highlands community, we would like to raise funds for Dadrien’s family as they grieve this senseless death,” Bowling wrote. “We want to rally behind this family and show them our community will support them during this tragic time. No matter the circumstances, violence and the loss of a young life are never acceptable. This tragedy impacts all of us.”
