Neighbor and mahjong expert Marian Pearson Brisch will host the first-ever Lake Highlands tournament and is calling all players to sign up for a table. Winners from each game will receive prizes from Mahji Mamas, The Mahjong Line and a grand raffle prize of mahjong line tiles.

For those unfamiliar with the game of mahjong, it’s an ancient Chinese game consisting of tiles and a scorecard. It has really gained traction among local moms.

“It’s become such a popular game among moms because we’re all looking for an outlet and an excuse to have time for ourselves or time with our girlfriends,” Brisch said.

You can read all about that and Birsch’s mahjong games in this Advocate feature we did last year.

Registration for the Apr. 3 tournament is $30 per person, or $120 per table. Those interested in competing can reserve a spot by sending a message to @mahjwithmar on Instagram.
