Following a delay, the water dredging of the pond at Watercrest Park just began this month at Lake Highlands Town Center.
The City of Dallas first approved the $2.8 million dredging last year in March using funds from the 2017 bond and Skillman Corridor TIF District. One of the delays on the project was due to the amount of heavy metals found in pond sediment samples, according to Dallas Water Utilities.
After the contractor, Energy Resources, Inc., finished clearing and grubbing the pond site in November, a staging area was set up with equipment to finish dredging. That lasted until January.
The projected completion of the dredging is this fall.
