LH Alumni Classic

Lake Highlands High School will host their annual Alumni Baseball Game tomorrow/Saturday on the school’s baseball field. First pitch is at 1 p.m., but former players will begin showing up about 11:30 a.m. to tell old stories and take a few practice swings.

Entrance to the game is free, and Coach Andy Parker’s buddy will be serving up his award-winning chili, with donations going to Chris Miller’s 90 Feet Forward Foundation. Miller is the proud Wildcat alum and baseball dad who dreamed up the alum game. He died in 2020 following a traffic accident while on a trip to see his son play baseball in college.

Following the game, alum players and supporters in the stands are invited to the new Jake’s Gameday at Skillman and Walnut Hill to celebrate the occasion. Jake’s employees have promised to have plenty of BenGay and cold beer for alums who may be hurting.

Chris Miller had a 25-year career practicing law after pitching at Texas Tech and Abilene Christian. Proceeds from his foundation provide need-based college scholarships and pay club baseball fees for kids whose families cannot afford them. You may donate here.

Oh, and here’s a note to alums who’ve faithfully participated in this event since 2018 – when you find yourself on lush new artificial turf, you aren’t in the wrong spot. LH’s baseball and softball fields were recently resurfaced by RISD.
