BLK, a dating app under Dallas-based Match, partnered with Urban Trivia for a night of romance themed trivia at Headquarters Dallas.

Just in time for Valentine’s Day and Black History Month, the Sunday event featured Black movie, TV, song and social media trivia with a focus on relationships and love.

Urban Trivia, which began hosting interactive games in Dallas in 2020, has since expanded to host shows across the country, just coming back to Dallas for one night.

To play the game, players get into teams and use one device to vote on answers to questions that pop up on the screen onstage. In between, songs are played for the audience to sing along.

The partnership between BLK and Urban Trivia was the idea of Jonathan Kirkland, the app’s head of marketing. He hopes it can connect more people and create a comfortable space for them.

“This is the beginning of the [partnership], so I want this to be bigger,” Kirkland says. “I want to bring the culture. So if I can help anything that has to do with Black culture, I’m doing it.”

BLK, which is one of the largest dating apps for Black singles, and its has launched other campaigns, including #BLKVoices to generate user conversations in the midst of racial justice protests in 2020.
