Forest Green Library

The new year may be in full swing, but the festivities aren’t over as the Lunar New Year rolls around.

Forest Green Branch Library is celebrating the Lunar New Year, a Chinese celebration of the start of a new year, with a free festival Saturday, Jan. 21.

The Lunar New Year begins Jan. 22 and lasts through Feb. 1 with a full lineup of activities and celebrations. Originally, as part of Chinese agrarian tradition, it was a holiday for farmers to rest from working in the fields.

The library will have something for the whole family, including calligraphy, crafts, dance and musical performances, a wishing tree, vendors and more. It will be an outdoor event taking place from 10:00 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.

Association of Asian American City Employees (AAACE), the Friends of the Dallas Public Library, and the Dallas Police Department are supporting the event.
