It’s not too late to send a holiday card this year, and one of Lake Highlands’ oldest residents would love to hear from you. Dorothy Loyd is celebrating her 104th Christmas, and she’s hoping to receive 104 cards to mark the occasion.
Loyd, known to grandchildren as “Doppie,” raised daughters Julie Conn and Dixie Beck in Lake Highlands. She was an active volunteer at Merriman Park, Forest Meadow and Lake Highlands High School, and now looks forward to visits by kids and grandkids.
Since she passed the century mark, Loyd’s hearing and vision aren’t quite what they used to be. Family and friends hope receiving a big batch of Christmas cards from around the neighborhood will help her remember she is loved and appreciated.
