Wildcat football has made the finals in Hot 93.3 radio’s battle for “Friday Night Lights.” Thirty-two schools began the contest in August, but after four rounds of voting, only Keller and LHHS remain. The winning athletic department receives $1,000 – and bragging rights for a full year.
You may vote online here (as many times as you’d like) until 11:59 p.m. Nov. 13.
The Wildcats must be living right. Last week, thunderstorms rolled through the Metroplex during Friday night football games, but Lake Highlands had a bye. Severe storms are predicted again this Friday, but LHHS plays the final game of the regular season Thursday night at 7, when warm weather is in the forecast. Seniors will be honored before the game.
Lake Highlands (5-2 in district, 7-2 overall) has already earned the city championship and will move into the bi-district playoffs as third in district 7-6A behind Highland Park (7-0, 9-0) and Jesuit (6-1, 7-2). LH will compete as the district’s top “big school,” and Berkner will likely earn the remaining playoff spot.
LHHS will play South Grand Prairie in the bi-district playoff at 7 p.m. Nov. 11 at Grand Prairie’s Gopher-Warrior Bowl. This is the third year in a row the two teams will meet in the opening round. LH won in 2021, and SGP won in 2020. Go Cats.
