After two years, the recreation center is finally open to the public again with an indoor gym for the first time. Previously, the only gym the recreation center had was an outdoor basketball court.

Other new updates include a senior multipurpose room, technology center with studios and a computer lab, yoga room and a lounge area.

Several members from the community and District 10 spoke during an opening ceremony, including Hamilton Park Civic League President Thomas Jefferson, community leaders Gina Riley, Pat Price Hicks and Bobbie Thomas Keller, and District 10 Council Member Adam McGough.

Former Hamilton Park residents and pro athletes came out and showed their support for the grand opening as well, including former NBA player Terrel Harris and former Dallas Cowboy Everson “Cubby” Walls.
