The expo, which will be held at the Lake Highlands North Recreation Center from noon to 4 p.m., will include pop-up shops, food trucks, raffles, a bounce house, games and live music.

Former NFL linebacker Eugene Lockhart will speak at the event. Lockhart, who is originally from Crockett, played for the Dallas Cowboys from 1984 to 1990 and gained the moniker “Mean Gene, the Hitting Machine” for his hard tackles.

STORM will provide a free hoodie, jacket or coat to attendees who are 28 years old or younger and have lived through homelessness, adoption or the foster care system, and those who have lived in group homes or under kinship care.

STORM is a nonprofit which serves people aged 14 to 28 years who are transitioning from out-of-home placement care to adulthood. STORM offers transitional planning assistance for those 18 and older to help people find education, housing, or jobs. For minors, STORM provides tutoring, mentorship and other support services.

The Grit & Growth Expo is free to attend, but participants must register online beforehand. For more information about the STORM Center of Hope and Service, visit their website.
