It takes quite an effort to move the 150-member Lake Highlands High School band between football games, community gigs and competitions. On Sept. 16, you’ll have a chance to support the band (and have a little fun) at their first ever Pre-Game Dinner and Silent Auction.
Dinner will run from 5 to 6:30 p.m. indoors in the LHHS HUB, and $15 tickets include a brisket plate with trimmings and a drink. A kid’s hot dog plate with chips and a drink is $5. Tickets may be purchased online here, and online bidding goes live Sept. 16. After the dinner and auction, attendees are encouraged to head over to Wildcat Stadium to watch the Wildcats beat Jesuit.
Band director Reagan Brumley has worked hard to recruit students to participate in band, even if they have a tough time affording the accompanying fees, lessons and equipment. Your support at this event will make their continued involvement possible.
Personal note: LHHS attracts some of the most talented music teachers in Texas, including one amazing French horn instructor who got married Labor Day weekend. That’s right – Miss Rachelle Huffman is now Mrs. Will Toler and a part of this writer’s proud family. The Illinois native met the lucky groom in Dallas after she was recruited by SMU to get her master’s degree in music on full scholarship. Be sure to meet the newly minted Mrs. Toler and all of LH’s dedicated music teachers when you have a chance.
