A man was shot by a Dallas police officer during an arrest attempt on Wednesday night.
The shooting happened around 11:30 p.m. at the LBJ Food Mart PoliceĀ on the 13000 block of Jupiter Road.Ā An undercover cop allegedly saw drug sale transactions in the parking lot earlier in the night.
The man was identified as 30-year-old Kyle Dail, who drove away from the gas station around 10:25 p.m. when police attempted to stop his car.
Dail returned returned to the gas station and went inside, where an officer recognized Dail and his car, according to Dallas Police.
Officers from the Northeast Patrol attempted to arrest Dail inside the gas station, where a fight broke out and Dail pulled out a gun. One of the officers shot and injured him.
Dail was unresponsive and taken to Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital, where he later died on Thursday.
In a press conference, Dallas Police Chief Eddie Garcia said the area has had multiple drug complaints. Security footage of the incident was also released.
“This isn’t the outcome that any of us wanted wanted, but this particular area, this particular store has had many complaints regarding open-air drug dealing,” he says.
The Dallas Police Special Investigations Unit and Dallas County District Attorneyās Office are conducting their own investigations.
