HHM Health is launching its first Community Fit Club tomorrow, June 30, at its Pineland location in Vickery Meadow. The hour-long class will start at noon on the third floor.
Diabetes is a disease that affects over 2.5 million Texans, and there are 621,000 who have diabetes and don’t know it. That’s why HHM is raising awareness of the issue with this fitness club open to all.
The program will be guided by a registered nurse and dietician. The dietician will give a presentation on food of the month, and the registered nurse will do exercise demonstrations.
HHM Health has helped mostly refugee patients with diabetes, high blood pressure and other chronic diseases.
“The focus on reducing diabetes in our communities is to ensure our patients are living their healthiest lives. Reducing diabetes will reduce cost, as diagnosed diabetes patients spend $25.6 billion in Texas each year,” HHM’s Krista Ferrera states in the release.
This will be both an in-person and virtual event. The event will be located at 5750 Pineland Drive.
