Oh sure, the Exchange Club of Lake Highlands has a reputation as the backbone of our community – a decades-old organization dedicated to sacrifice and service. But that doesn’t mean they don’t know how to party.
This year’s fundraiser is a benefit concert and auction featuring country music star Jack Ingram. Ingram, a Texas native and SMU alum, has been a frequent guest on Austin City Limits and country music’s Top 40. Hits like “Barefoot and Crazy,” “Measure of a Man” and “Love You” have kept audiences coming back to his gigs at Adair’s, Billy Bob’s and Gruene Hall. He’s been nominated for Grammy and Country Music Awards, and he won CMT Video of the Year (2007), Academy of Country Music’s Top New Male Vocalist (2008) and ACM Song of the Year (2018).
With the help of legendary Longhorn football coach Mack Brown and Academy Award winner Matthew McConaughey, Ingram created Mack, Jack and McConaughey, a nonprofit committed to supporting children’s health, wellness and education organizations. Over the weekend they celebrated ten years of aiding kids and kids’ causes.
The ECLH concert and auction party begins at 8 p.m. Saturday, May 21 at Gilley’s Dallas, 1135 S. Lamar. Tickets are $100 each or two for $150 and include an open bar and late night snack. Tickets may be purchased online here. Silent auction bidding kicks off at noon May 15, with amazing items and one-of-a-kind experiences donated by LH merchants and ECLH members. Proceeds will provide college scholarships for Lake Highlands High School seniors, financial support for first responders and community grants to help make a great place to live even greater.
If you have questions or have an auction donation, reach out to ECLH’s event chair Joe Parisi, named last week Richardson ISD’s Assistant Principal of the Year, at joeparisi13@gmail.com. You may donate to the Exchange Club here.
