Jefferson will serve in the District 10 spot that was previously held by Brian Hasenbauer. Councilman Adam McGough announced the new appointment over social media. Jefferson’s reaction was quoted in the post:

“I am extremely excited to serve on the Community Development Commission for the City of Dallas because my entire adult life has been centered around making a lasting impact on my community and surrounding areas. I believe voices from people such as myself who live directly in these urban communities are most needed because who else knows exactly what we need and want for our communities better than ourselves? I can not wait to begin to share my ideas and hopefully continue to make Hamilton Park, Lake Highlands and all of Dallas’ District 10 proud.”

Community involvement is nothing new to Jefferson, either. She also runs the Salome Foundation and serves as a program coordinator at UT Southwestern Medical Center.

Last year, she was featured as one of the Advocate’s Fierce Females. You can find the full story here in the archives.
