At Home
At Home was originally founded in 1979 as Garden Ridge Pottery. The first store opened in Schertz, Texas, and became popular after expanding to Houston and beyond. The chain went public but grew too quickly, resulting in bankruptcy in 2004. AEA Investors, a New York-based private equity firm which also owns 24 Hour Fitness, Burt’s Bees and other brands, purchased Garden Ridge in 2011 and changed the name to At Home in 2014.
At Home features items for the kitchen, from food storage containers to slotted spoons to charcuterie boards. They’ll outfit your bathroom, from fluffy towels to shower curtains to accent rugs. For the bedroom, they offer tufted headboards, mattresses and comforters. For kids’ rooms they have colorful bedding, lamps and pillows. For the patio, they have sling back chairs, table umbrellas and pottery. They offer rugs of all shapes and sizes and accent chairs for every room. They have seasonal items, door mats and dog beds. When you’re ready to get organized, they have baskets and bins and containers of all types. When you need to wrap up a gift, they have toys and tchotchkes to brighten a friend’s day.
