Big Springs Elementary is suspending classes for the rest of the semester following a COVID-19 outbreak infecting 24 staff and students at the school.

Several staff members called in sick Tuesday morning, according to a FOX 4 news report.

RISD says the affected staff and students had tested positive since Monday.

As of now, on the RISD COVID-19 portal, there are 30 active cases at Big Springs Elementary.

Though the school will conduct the remainder of classes online, they are expected to resume in-person learning next semester.
